Curriculum

The elementary grades (Pre K (3)-4th Grade) are self-contained classes at each grade level with a maximum student/teacher ratio of 18:1. Kindergarten serves student needs in academic readiness and social skills.

Articulated instruction in grades 1-4 includes reading, language arts, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, library, Spanish and computers. Music, art, and physical education are conducted for each grade by qualified resource teachers.

The Middle School grades (5-8) continue instruction in the listed academic subjects and are differentiated into instructional blocks of time. Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Introduction of Language and Latin strengthen the junior high program. A strong emphasis is placed on the social studies, science and language arts curriculum.

High School offerings include the core subjects, one foreign language (Spanish), Physical Education, Computer Education, Music, Art and Journalism. A wide range of academic electives is available to students each year.

Course selections are revised and expanded each year. Recent additions include Twentieth Century United States History, Foundations of Mathematics, and Marine Science.

A well defined honors program is available in high school. Advanced Placement classes are available to qualified Juniors and Seniors.

Dual Enrollment is available through Robeson Community College, Sandhills Community College and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
