The mission of F.M.A.'s first grade is that each child  learn and experience everything possible in a safe, positive, caring, and meaningful
educational
environment. Instruction will be as individualized as is possible so that each  child can reach his potential for his current age and stage. Along with
learning all of the required curriculum, hopefully each child will leave first grade with a better understanding and appreciation of himself or
herself as a person.

High School English, 9th Grd HR
Matthew Ivey
As a teacher, I believe that it is extremely important to challenge students, to push them beyond their perceived limits, and to introduce them to new ideas and modes of thought. Appropriately, the mission for all of my classes is to accomplish all of these things. As a teacher of English, I also believe that it is of utmost importance for students to be well-read and to be able to articulate their ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing. My classes will not be easy, as they will require a tremendous amount of work on the students’ part, but they will be rewarding and worthwhile. I expect all students to embrace the challenges I give them, and in return, I will do anything and everything possible to ensure their academic success.

Dwight Welsh
This is my 4th year at Flora Macdonald Academy.  I truly enjoy teaching and molding young minds every day.
My classes will not be real easy, but they will not be extremely hard.  If the student is willing to put in the work, they will be able to earn a decent
grade, however if they just think they can come to class and not participate, then their grade will reflect their lack of effort.
I have over 30 years experience working on, with and around computers and their related components.
I am an Army Veteran with over 14 years service, while in the Army I was the Unit Computer Electronics Manager and I supervised anywhere from
5 to 200 soldiers at various times during my career.
I finished my Associates in Information Technology Degree in June of 2009 (better late than never LOL)  and will begin working towards my
Bachelors in Information Technology in October of this year.

I love to cook and Spend time with my grand-children. I have lived in a small community called Antioch for he past 18 years.
I worked at the Blue Bird Grill for 6 years before coming to FMA. I enjoy cooking and serving the children and teachers.
I have been here going on 3 years and it is my goal to get children to eat lunch, because its not good for a child to
go without eating lunch, they just can't concentrate on an empty stomach. I enjoy my Job.
When a little one comes back for seconds, I feel like I reached a goal.
